I like Pitchfork. They have toned down their douche-baggery significantly in the past several years. I think they are a very valuable music source and generally have a solid opinion. I'm anticipating a high 8's review, but I find this album to be stronger than HTTT, which I think got a 9.3 or something?

there are so many flaws with their ten point scale.

 

 

that aside, not giving this album best new music was also pretty low. They're giving a higher value to their "image" (which I think they're trying to dismiss the RH loving image) than they are to some kind of proper review.

How the fuck do they do that anyway? I've heard of 3.5 or ***1/2. But how do they determine how an album gets a score of 7.9 or any other ranking?

did pitchfork actually give Kid A a 10 when it first came out, or did they go back and change it?

 

review is dated October 2, 2000, so i suppose it was original?

 

yeah guys compared to pablo honey's 5.4 they're pretty stoked on it lol

 

i do find the fork to be a great source of news though
