Most of the old posters were just random Russians I paid to talk with me, but they all started working on another big project in 2015. Sorry to anyone else who thought it was real

yeah yeah, fact is a great deal of pissed off Tory voters are throwing the same cheap insults at Cameron. i don't get what it it about a coalition that so many people find hard to understand. it's not a sell out thing, it's a genuine compromise thing. the Tories needed the Libs more than the Libs needed the Tories: while obviously given the disparity in seats we have to start from the Tory manifesto and work from there, the Lib Dems have wrung many more compromises from the right than we frankly had any right to expect. and last time i checked, the Tories not being able to do everything they thought they were going to do is a good thing for the left. now people are running round acting like we have a Tory government propped up by fake liberal representation?

the game has changed and the old battle lines don't wash anymore. this government we're supposed to be so afraid of is now dismantling the planned id card system, the national identity register, all this related Orwellian shit that the so-called left leaning Labour partly bought in. there are genuine libertarian aspects to this modern day Conservative party and they have to bring that to the fore to survive now. on many liberal issues, the real mainstream right wing party in this country is the one we just kicked out. not only that but in a wider sense, this coalition itself is a huge test of long vaunted liberal ideals regarding how government functions- ie, compromise. if the whole ideal of PR worked out, this kind of government is what we would have quite often... this is what the left wants! PR does not just benefit the left, right now it mostly just hurts Labour... you don't bring it in just to give the libs a boost, you bring it in because you want a style of government that takes on board more views and doesn't allow parties to simply force their will on the often two-thirds and more of people who don't support them.

also when analysing why the Lib Dems have done this, it's important to remember that while of course if they were bloodthirstily trying to position the left in a certain way in the long term they might have proceeded in a different way, that would have been minority self-interest at the expense of working government and i find that quite objectionable... as would the wider public i dare say. for many years i wanted the Lib Dems to be kingmakers but i realise now that in such a position you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. at such a juncture, best that they take a role in a majority government and take as much advantage as they can. we certainly shouldn't be hearing that misguided but influential chestnut that 'they're not gonna win so don't bother' in 5 years time.

i'm not particularly worried. Tories were going to come back one day and this is the best possible Tory government from a liberal perspective. i'm a bit tired of seeing the kneejerk Tory hatred all over the web, when the fact is that the left has a significant voice in its government. in the eighties liberalism was dead. now, if you voted Lib Dem as i did then guess what- your party is now in power, your viewpoint has more sway in government than it ever has before. there are obvious potential issues, sure. but this is far from a hopeless situation. on reflection, there's a lot of subtleties, and really solid arguments for the Lib Dems going with either bigger party. right now as a liberal i think this is probably the best way things could have panned out. i would have taken a result like this with glee and disbelief if you'd told me it six months ago. i find myself rather joyous actually. we now have a parliament where these people can't just do what they fuck they want because a slim majority of a slight majority of eligible voters ticked their box for often local or spurious reasons.

the whole 'don't vote Lib Dem it lets the Tories in' was scaremongering when Blair said it to pad out what we knew would already be a healthy majority last time around, and it's scaremongering now when Labour are fucked anyway and we all know this. and the most positive narrative that might be coming out of this election for a left winger is the continued rise of the Lib Dems, in popular vote and parliamentary seats.

i mean there needs to be a stronger left in this country. there's a lot of us and we're not being represented. but if the Lib Dems are going to be one of the big two one day, they're not going to be up against Labour. they're going to be up against the Tories, who have the right sewn up and aren't going anywhere. for this to happen the Lib Dems will have to overtake Labour before they overtake the Tories. and that is the big chance in this election. there are Labour v Tory seats that the Lib Dems aren't going to win, but they can take 2nd place in some of these seats and be a contender next time. it's actually really important that Labour votes go to Lib Dems even where the Tories benefit from it in the short term.

the to and fro motion of the British public is pretty easy to predict. the most likely longer term result of the Tories not winning this time is them winning in a freaking landslide next time. now that's scary. a 4/5 year weak majority Tory government on the other hand is not worth being scared out of your vote to avoid. honestly the way some of you talk it's like Cameron regularly consults Thatcher's undead corpse in her tomb under Tory HQ.

All of the new doctor's companions bother me (why do they insist on having an element of drama by making them fall in love with him), Catherine Tate just bothered me the most because she just bothers me in general- voice, mannerisms etc, though the guy who played her grandad was good. Though yes only the last 3 eps were really ridiculous, she made every episode feel somewhat ridiculous. And the episode quality was just generally lower, though still mostly good, except for that rubbish two-parter about the library.

Of course the worst was the episode with bloody Kylie Minogue
