  1. I'm in the UK and my copy came yesterday. But likely only because I live in Oxford and they are shipping it from Reading, which isn't that far away.
  2. For those in the UK - Interview + Lift http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p056nb07?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbc_radio_6_music&ns_source=facebook&ns_linkname=radio_and_music
  3. I've been waiting for years to hear a decent version of the song. Very pleased with how it sounds, probably wouldn't have fit on OK Computer but meh. Video -
  4. This is very sad indeed. My cousin is likely in the final stages of her battle with cancer and it just angers me that she's slipping away before her time. As for Thom touring ? Why anyone would give him shit for that I do not know. Other than that, there is nothing else to say. As I feel it's intruding on the grief of those who knew her well.
  5. Seems to be the same sort of thing with each album release, people latch onto an idea. Instead of enjoying the music. Anyway I think this is the best they've been artistically since putting OK Computer to one side and the creative rush of Kid A/Amnesiac tired them out a bit. Not knocking the albums that came before this one either. It just seems to have something extra to it, I can't quite my finger on. That or I should go to bed, not slept in 24 hours.
  6. They've not sounded this good since OK Computer/Kid A/Amnesiac. That's my initial reaction from my first listen. Lots of sounds to digest and process before I reach a more balanced view. A friend of mine whose not a massive Radiohead fan, loves it.
  7. Well the chic hobo look ain't cheap. Trust me to be taking a nap when the news was released.
  8. I've bought it so I can listen to it without needing to be online and at the mercy of youtube's bit rates. As for spotify ? I've used that plenty of times in the past to listen to albums a few times before deciding if I'm going to buy it or not. Hopefully it won't be too long before they release the album.
  9. Dawn has arrived sheathed in cloud, in Oxford. Typical Bank Holiday weather. Maybe they'll release something today or the cryptic marketing will continue for a while longer.
  10. The band appear to have asked themselves that question - http://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/feb/23/thom-yorke-radiohead-interview As I said enjoy the ride while it lasts, not really fixated on the end. I coped when REM called it quits. Could be worse, they could take a decade or more to release material like say Kate Bush does. I guess they'll see how Thom's recent releases have worked out. Bandcamp might be an option if they want to release it quickly in a digital format (MP3, FLAC etc) with a physical release later on.
  11. December is doable but it depends on how quickly they progress through the tweaking stage and are happy with it. The side projects have probably been quite beneficial to the band as they can stretch themselves away from Radiohead. That all depends on if they feel like they've got more to do as a band creatively. I'm not sure if they have reached that point yet, but none of us can really be sure about that. As ever enjoy the ride that is Radiohead while it lasts.
  12. Yep Miss Pearly. I've met her once or twice in Oxford.
  13. That or Thom will release a Phil Collins style album.... ---- Quite sad that it's ended, but it's none of our beeswax really. Though I did notice plonkers on twitter mistook a Thom Yorke fan for his ex i.e. the picture of Thom crossing the road with said fan in Brazil.
  14. Not a lot different to when he's telling tourists to sod off... Only joking, from what I've seen (which isn't much), he tends to stomp off if he gets annoyed. A friend of mine (academic) did talk to him about social media in a queue for hummus. That video always cracks me up.
  15. I was meant to goto one of the Hammersmith 2006 shows. Anyway I didn't goto the last lot of shows because I was not prepared to fork out O2 prices + travel costs to the O2. Kind of hope that when they do call it a day (whenever that is), they play another gig in Oxford's South Park.
  16. Last time I saw Radiohead was in 2001 at South Park Oxford, was meant to see them during the club tour thingy but I fell ill on the day so gave my ticket to my American friend (owed her money for sending flowers to a friend's funeral in the US). A bit bummed about it, but South Park was such an amazing gig I think it might hard to top. Anyway It may take Radiohead a while to get going on the next album, if that's what they end up deciding to do. They'll meet up, talk about things, then maybe a bit later they'll start messing around and that might turn into something. Basically Radiohead are Professional Procrastinators, we could get something surprisingly soon or it might be a while. Depends what songs they've got kicking around, still hoping they'll finish Lift.
  17. Well 1st of July is on a Friday, so it might air in the Jools Holland time slot on BBC2 (perhaps with Newsnight reviewing it before hand). Otherwise it'll be on BBC4 and BBCHD (and hopefully become part of the BBCHD promo packages that run before programming starts). Awesome news, I just wish they'd actually annouce some proper tour dates.
  18. I think the NME Is just pissed with Radiohead for not churning out clones of OK Computer every 2 or 3 years. That's what it boils down to, the band have moved away from being a pure guitar band to something else. Thus the NME is confused and lashes out in anger in the knowledge that no matter what the old tripe they churn out about Radiohead will equal a sales bump while soothing their anger over Radiohead not doing what they want. If Radiohead released a pure guitar album tomorrow, the NME would be all over it like rash along with all the other critics. As for the Record Industry at large ? Things like spotify are the future and tbh the days of record labels making massive profits off the majority of bands and artists is probably over. The smart artists and bands will make their money off live gigs, merchindise and Radiohead like marketing once they reach a certain level. Singles and Albums will be promo tools for what makes the real cash. The Indie Labels will probably flourish once more. As for the NME, they are much like the record industry. In denial about the erosion of the traditional business model by the internet. I will not be sad to see the NME go out of print. I may even by the last issue to wipe my bum with after a nice long dump. As for TKOL, I like it and that's all that matters to me.
  19. Liam Gallagher is and always will be comedy gold. Can't wait to hear Noel's thoughts on TKOL.
  20. Too early to say if It's a masterpiece or not yet. I like it, it feels special when I'm listening to it. Yep. It'll end badly for everyones hearing. Chris "Look I can do Radiohead's groovy dubstep folk thingy whatsit" Paltrow "Sod off Chris, I'm swooning over Thom Yorke in Lotus Flower"...
  21. I like it (must be on my third listen by now). The tracks that jumped out at me on first listen were - Lotus Flower, Codex, Morning Mr Magpie, Give Up the Ghost and Feral. It starts off fast and then slowly grinds into something really mellow, that's the only way i can describe it at the moment without turning into jibbering mess.
  22. Who knows for sure cept the band. Those trees look very familar to me, I just can't place them. It's either wytham woods, the woods around a village that isn't too far outside of Oxford, port meadow or someplace else I can't remember the name of. This is going to bug me for the rest of the day now.
  23. Finally managed to preorder the newspaper album version of the King of Limbs. Yay. I used to be on atease a few years ago, but I left because I got bored of all the fighting that went on back then.
  24. Yay that LP8 is here. Booo to my attempts at preordering failing in firefox and Internet exploder. Sent an email to waste to see what the problem is, though somehow i doubt i'll be getting a response today. I'm not going to attempt to preorder again, because frankly I got into enough trouble with my bank the last time i went overdrawn. This is just as flakey as the In Rainbows launch, when i believe they had a problem with processing credit/debt cards because of the verified by Visa/Mastercard crapola.
