    Jonathan are you there?

Totally fair to ask these questions. There's no real reason as to why I brought MT back. I guess it's because it's been a part of my life for the past 20 years. It felt weird not having it around. I have no expectation that people will visit or stick around. I realize there's plenty of other places you can spend your time (reddit, discord, slack groups, etc...). There's a lot of history within the topics here and for some reason, I didn't like that I just erased it. So, at the very least, I wanted to bring MT back purely for the historical snapshot of what useless things people were talking about from 2004 on. The only things that have changed are the server and software. Both were ancient and prone to spamming and attacks. The whole server was taken over by hackers in January which is why I shut it down. After moving to a new server and updating the forum software to be from this decade, I'm optimistic that the spam problems won't be as bad. I'm "present" in the sense that i check the site daily. I don't post much, never have. And I realize that things got really bad here the last few years. Life is crazy with 2 children under 4 years old so I do have bigger priorities. Hope this makes sense...

  2. would really have liked remastered versions of those b-sides in an official collection, with some extra tracks... not even because it would've been any better, just it would've had symmetry with oknotok and that sort of thing pleases me. i'm actually really interested to hear what ELSE they did with morning bell.

  3. Hello. 1. I started this thread. But now I seem to be "banned". Hence this new handle. 2. I confess to not having read all posts, so I may be missing some important details. 3. Am I the only one who is extremely pissed off that all of the original b-sides are not included in this set? (Or maybe I am missing something as per para 2?)

  4. Obviously this place is largely dead now anyway but man I'm glad that guy is banned. The idea of coming in here to say 'This reissue looks cool' only to be met with paragraphs and paragraphs of pointless negativity was kind of a drag. Anyway The reissue looks cool!!

  6. nowhere has been banned for a history of killing any and all innocent conversation regarding Radiohead with extreme toxic negativity and off-topic posts. the final straw was basically libel against a band member. this board has never tolerated prying into the personal lives of the band beyond that they've spoken on themselves, especially if users repeat unsourced rumours as fact. issues such as Radiohead playing a gig in Israel against the wishes of the BDS movement are theoretically fine to discuss, and I'm sure many fans have mixed feelings about the matter, but posters will agree to disagree in a thread about that discussion and keep it there. you can also post about it in the current events board or, most productively, discuss it somewhere other than a mostly dead Radiohead forum. users who have nothing positive or constructive to say about Radiohead's current projects are generally encouraged to discuss it elsewhere.

  7. smug dismissal of The Smile yields no space for insight or conversation and your extreme and false portrayal of the bands politics is obviously terminally influenced by one disagreement (they played a gig in Israel). i find your leaps of logic hard to follow and references to 'Thom/fan sexual relationships' are unsubstantiated forum gossip. your essays are better posted on your blog. let this board rest in peace.

  8. Amnesiac was my favorite album for a long time, I don't know what it would be now though.

  10. still love amnesiac, and kid a. they flip flop regularly about which i prefer. haven't listened to either in awhile, but when i think "do i feel like listening to rh right now?" those 2 are the ones i want to hear the most.

  12. I was a bit underwhelmed by the re-issue, though the “new album” was pretty good. The exhibition, on the other hand, was pretty incredible, a true interactive work of art that I found myself surprised and moved by on several occasions

  15. Roooooose! I actually didn't realise how many of these were alternative versions rather than just unreleased songs. I think I saw Follow Me Around and got too excited to read the rest

  16. Not what is implied on the iTunes version of the album unless they plan to make it a separate release ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  17. Who cares about the extra tracks. Did you know that Thom Yorke says comments to cats designed to undermine their confidence? Lana Del Rey would never purposely undermine a cat’s confidence.

  18. it's also pretty tight that the vinyl reissues have got kid a and amnesiac on single LP. Kid A in particular DOESN'T WORK on the currently existing 2 x lp formats, having to flip it over between title track and national anthem and in limbo and idioteque kills the flow. somewhat disappointing there isn't an everything package for the completist i'll probably get the cream triple big book though. much love to all drawn back here by radiohead news. forever in our thoughts xx.

  19. complete Kid Amnesiac sessions/outtakes are the holy grail of the fandom but I felt pretty burnt by the OKC 20th: only three properly presented outtakes, one of which had brand new vocals/strings (Big Boots) and one a demo presented as a finished song, with video and everything, which doesn't even sound like it was OKC era (Lift). nobody needed the remaster and i'm under the impression the boxset didn't do as well as they hoped seeing as it's still widely available. the cassette tape was some weird fetish shit, so their ideas of doing something cool/special worry me a bit... what are we getting this time, minidiscs in honour of Thom losing his demos to a lightning strike? one cool idea might be to present the material in a boxset as a reimagined double album, which was always the big 'what if?' at the time. it's bizarre in retrospect how they played loads of Amnesiac songs live directly before and after Kid A's release. poorly managed hype and confusion around the new songs did hurt the band critically, and you wonder how late in the day Kid A's tracklist was finalised. they didn't want to overwhelm people at the time, but that hardly matters now. whatever happens, i hope they're more generous than they were with OKNOTOK, because there should be an absolute mountain of interesting versions/sessions/outtakes here and we all know it. last time out, only hackers saved us from a future OKC 30th edition with the complete recording sessions, which £100 boxset purchasers should have been getting in the first place.

  25. Yeah, I love that recording. It was on my iPod playlist during my backcountry hike in Yellowstone last Saturday. In fact, my entire playlist included Radiohead, Thom Yorke solo and Atoms For Peace. I'm finally getting to enjoy all the recordings I acquired during the past year . . . . . listening to them while on adventurous hikes. I'm very grateful for these incredible songs.

  27. So I realize it’s been 15 years, but did you ever find out who that was? Because I’ve had that song stuck in my head for a good 20 now. Or whenever Napster was in its heyday. I downloaded it because someone named it as Radiohead’s “I Might Be Wrong” which it definitely wasn’t. But dammit, that song was great and I just want to hear it again.

  29. i am excited to hear the 2 or 3 good songs on LPX and maybe some cool interludes or B-sides but i'm also excited to hear the 5 or 6 shitty boring whining and crying put me to sleep lost their edge forgot how to rock songs too.
